Past Projects
Caltrans Contract # 65A1022 (Vegetation Barrier Project):
Developer of VBM (Vegetation Barrier Model) application integrating dispersion modeling, vegetation characteristics (porosity, LAI), and emissions inputs to support Caltrans planning and mitigation decisions.
Led the development of the Vegetative Barrier Model (VBM) to simulate PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ dispersion behind roadside vegetation, solid barriers, and open terrain.
Conducted field measurements and model evaluation to quantify the air-quality impacts of vegetative barriers along California highways, comparing performance across barrier types.
Caltrans Contract # UCR/ME-80014-MR-2-R2 (Dust Project):
Developed a mechanistic modeling framework to estimate PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ emission factors from paved roads, improving upon the EPA AP-42 model for high-traffic California highways.
Designed and deployed a mobile road-dust sampling and monitoring platform, integrating PM sensors, meteorological instruments, and traffic data across multiple freeways in Southern California.
Analyzed large-scale field datasets and contributed to journal Atmospheric pollution research and a Caltrans final technical report.
